Look, we can bicker about the Ducati 1200 forever. I'm not convinced they NEED the 200 extra, But my b1tching wont change it. Nothing changes the fact carlos is riding like a true champ. Put him on the Aprilia and he'd probably still win.

The BIG story, GO TOM! what a race weekend for him. Any haters still doubting this guy? I smell a win at Aragon, maybe Monza too. He fought Haslam Well, legitimately held him off, and Max couldn't get near them. The only reason his tyres went was because he tried to catch the Duc that DOESN'T eat tyres at all.

Go TOM!
3 Podiums in 4 races! Anyone still doubting there's progress?

Nick636, put Checa on the Aprilia and he'd be competing on a level playing field against his competitors. Just like he did when he was racing for Tenkate, and look what happened there - he was beaten by his rookie teamate Jonathan Rea.

I think many people have forgotten the Ducati factory team performances with Haga and Fabrizio in 2009 and 2010. It's only with Checa that they have got back to winning ways, remove him from the equation and they would be nowhere. It has come a bit late, but he's at his career's peak and I don't think that even icons like Bayliss or Fogarty would have done better with that bike.

@ 190mph

I get what you're saying, But i think we've all seen by now, Rea truly suits the Honda, like noone else. And the Aprilia is a much better bike. But, again, Checa is the only Ducati winning races... But i question the need for the extra 200cc, specially when their new bike claims 10bhp more than Any of the 1000cc 4 cylinders. And again, they already have more torque, mechanical grip and centred weight. But what i was saying is that we seem to have this argument over and over again, it's getting old. There's nothing we can do about it unfortunately.

Well the desmodromic distribution is equal to the pneumatic valve system, the advantage is, for a displacement of 1000, between 15 to 20 horsepower, there is less fuel needed in order to open and close the valves (there are no springs). So is also giving you the possibility to have a more powerful engine. The same exactly thing happened the first year of the 800 era, all the japanese engines was with traditional spring controlled valves, and all you know what happend. But since a pneumatic control would be impossible for a production bike, if Ducati produce an engine 1000 four desmo, the only chance to win for all the other manufacturer will be produce and sell a desmo engine.

as the majority of posters believe carlos and the ducati have an unfair advantage would one of you care to explain why he has absolutely no chance at monza

@ rca

Because monza is a very high top end based track... But that is ONE track!!! Top end is the ONLY place the v2 is disadvantaged. And as we've seen, not by much. Why should they have a big engine size advantage when they only lack in one area? This is not drag racing. It is not oval track... It is not top end only.

We get so sucked into being for or against ducati we forget about enjoying the racing. For me it was awesome seeing different manufacturers fighting for top 5 positions. That's becoming rare in many series.

Would everyone stop whining about Ducati are miles ahead because what I saw today was Checa winning by less than 4 seconds in both races! Remember Imola is a Ducati track unlike the next track Assen which is more if a playing field in theory!

Checa and Ducati are not as far away as last year and I think especially as the year goes on the Kawasaki and BMW will get stronger. Stop complaining it's only the 2nd round with 12 to go and Checa is riding bloody well on that bike give him some credit and don't put it souley down to the bike!
