Marco Melandri's joy at winning BMW's first World Superbike race is tempered by the controversy that befalls both himself and Leon Haslam in race two.

If finishing second was okay, then why did you try that stupid pass that made Haslam sit up, letting Rea in?

IT WAS ALL YOUR FAULT!

I love Melandri, but I wish he'd just say "sorry" and move on!

Great day's racing by all classes today BTW

Nice one Rea, If you cant beat them...take them down! Now...try to win without having to crash into your competitors. It's not very fair on them. Melandri done nothing wrong on the last lap. Went for a pass that wasn't going to work out. Good stuff, nice to see you trying.

"outlandish manouver" "villain of the day" etc.

What he should have done? It was a race and he is a racer, so he tried a pass, at the end of a race with a hundred successful/unsuccessful passes. He lost 2nd position with that pass, but he didn't end anybody's race. Jonathan Rea also could have stayed behind Haslam and be second. Instead he tried passing like Melandri did, and HE ended two people's race.

There were two outcomes of Melandri's maneuver.

1. As he was so far back when he lunged, Haslam would not have seen him and he would have got shunted in the rear probably knocking them both down.

2. Push Haslam out wide leaving a gap for a rider behind to have a go.

Obviously the second happened. I really like Marco but that was a daft move and he cost the team the second 1&2 of the day.

Was there a brake test on Haslam in the first race too..?
