WSBK » Sykes out to ‘silence a few people’

Tom Sykes: we did the equivalent of around nine race distances in total during the test, so hopefully that will pay off tomorrow and we can silence a few people.

He's always late getting to the finish line as well. If they've found something in the testing which will actually make Tom able to hang onto the tyres for any length of time, great - but I'll believe it when I see it. Lascorz always went forwards during the races, so it can't be the bike. Tom's a quick rider with a big achilles heel in terms of keeping a race pace for the full distance - can he ever overcome this?

Tom can ride a bike. He is fast and unfortunately the kawasaki is not really great on tyre conservation. I guess he can slow down and run third/fourth the whole race but the dude wants to win and he goes for it. Lascorz used to come forward in races but he was not doing the results Tom was this I do not see the comparison. If you are using 2011 then it is a whole new bike that is better in almost every department and the fact that his results are also better than all of last year and all the poles he is dominating proves that with a capable bike he can do the job. They have to work on the tyres now and duration. In fact, i believe Tom knows the bike's weakness but by putting the kwak in front for pole and in the initial stages of races he is proving to kawasaki he is the rider to keep and that Kawasaki needs to fix the issues as he is capable on a good bike.

Looks like there are people around who actually have a good understanding of motorcycle racing, good post !

There's always one plank ! Why not post a picture of yourself so people can rip into you.

Obviously what they found in testing was close to useless, again Tom fades more quickly than Primark jeans. Maybe he's outperforming the bike over one lap but struggling to keep it up for any length of time, but we're not seeing it from the other Kawasaki riders, or the BSB teams (although shorter races and slightly different regs might explain that)
