WSBK » Sykes: One race at a time…

Tom Sykes: 90 per cent of my thoughts are about taking it just one race at a time. Ten per cent of me is also thinking that we are in a good position in the table.

What he has managed since joining the Green Machine is nothing short of remarkable. Tom has finally given Kawasaki fans something to cheer for, something to get excited for beyond the odd top 5 / 10 finish. He is the first rider since Scott Russel in '93 and MAYBE Yanagawa in '99 to even be in the title fight, and the first since Russel to be considered an actual contender.

When considering his year with Yamaha that so many give him so much flack for, when not knowing the facts behind the matter, Tom has proved his mettle and gained the support of the die-hard Kwakka fans.

IF things go in his favour he COULD have a shot at the title, if not, he's almost certain of a top three, and I will almost guarantee he'll be a protagonist next year.

Md Zane

And why aren't you on the grid?

I don't know if you've noticed or not, but even when he's going hell-for-leather in the opening laps, he's not flying off to a 20sec lead... So, if, as you (and many others propose) he slows down, all that will happen is that he will be passed by the Ducatis and Aprilias that CAN push all race long... It all comes down to fine tuning. The Aprilia is in it's 4th year, the BMW in it's 4th year, the Ducati in it's 6th year and the Honda in it's 5th. That means these teams have a minimum of 2 years more development time on the bike. Look at the massive change the electronics pack made that Provec brought...

Will be a hard challange Win the WC but everythingh is possible=) and like some other fans aim here to support the Kawasaki Team... Aim very happy people like Portimao circuit, aim from Portugal and we never had to much support him Motorcycle racing compared with other constries wish is normal because we are small country and no money but we are trying to change that and this circuit is a good exemple of progress, saddly i think Portugal will loss Estoril him Motogp wish let me very sad but at least Portimao locks him good shape for the Future and i hope this circuit can suit the Ninja, i would be extremly happy to wach the Kawa winning here and having a real chance of Winning the WC, fingers crossed..

Sykes would be a worthy champion, he did barely no mistake this year and got the most out of his bike in almost every races so far, unlike the 2 italians.

Well said... They're, as far as I know, are the ONLY team NOT on Ohlins...
I know it is a big daydream, but, as I have said quite oftn, wish this could almost be a prelude to a GP return. NOT that I am particularly attached to MotoGP as I prefer a racing series that I kin kinda relate to, but it would be nice to vindicate themselves. Return on THEIR OWN chassis, not a Suter, and show a screamer can do the business.

But at this stage, I am happy seeing a Kawasaki fighting in SBK.

OH, and for anyone who HASN'T seen it, the new ZX6R is AWESOME looking. Welcome back 636.

Gut feeling is that he won't take it this year, but next time 'round I would put my chips on him. This year was a period of development and sorting the tire wear issues, which he/they look to almost have squared away now. Now that he is becoming a genuine threat in dry conditions, combined with his ability to push like a maniac in the wet, should make for championship-winning effort. Something tells me that this year Max is going to finally get it together and pull it off, either that or he keeps throwing it away and hands it over to Melandri.
