What's happened in WSBK this year, I haven't been following.. Why isn't Ducati winning? The organizers decided not to help them win this year, to 'keep the credibility of the series'? :-/

I'm sure Checa can't wait to get his hands on the Panigale for next season as Ducati just came out with a special version above the S version of the current Panigale. I'm not sure if Ducati has modified the engine, ECU, or trans on the special version likely to be used as the version to be homologated for WSB next season. It will be interesting to see how it can do against the current crop of superbikes as the mags haven't shown it to be a show stopper.

@Marc

I could be wrong, but as I understand it Checa has not been to keen on the Panigale at all. But I hope the bike is competitive, WSBK is great because of all the different bikes going at it. Even Suzuki looks to finally be onto something at the end of this year.

ignore the mags. these are superbikes...!!! mags didn't show the crossplane R1 to be a show stopper either, but it's now bagged 4 championships since it's introduction from WSB to BSB to AMA. right then, still looking at mags...?

news flash, la marra and the panigale were LEADING the superstock championship for a couple of rounds. only 3 pts seperate them and BMW now going into france. in the right hands, the bike's competitive, but that goes for any bike.

The 1199R supposedly has some titanium internals that allow the engine to spin out an additional 500RPMs, for about +5hp. Is superstock, the 1199 is still down a bit on the Kawi and the Bimmer, so hopefully that helps.

I own a Panigale, and have ridden both it and the S1000 on track. The Bimmer is just easier to go fast on at this stage, but remember, the 1199 is still young and the potential is certainly there.
