Ducati confirms it won't continue with Althea Racing for the 2013 World Superbike season, but insists Carlos Checa will ride the new 1199 Panigale.

Giugliano had no agreement for next season at Magny Cours with Althea and he was really worry about this fact. The team wasn't really happy about the second part of his season , sic severall articles in the press. In addition he isn't able to provide an evolution and tecnical adjustments on a new bike as the panigale or the MV bike F4. MV is really risky, regarding the F4, a lot of work on it to have it at the BSB level. Great would be to see Checa fighting again next season against the pack and hopefully ducati can afford a second rider. Good luck to ducati and their factory team.

I have no particular loyalty to either Giugliano or Ducati, but as a casual observer it seems harsh. He won them a title and I think he had a pretty stellar first year on the Superbike. It's a MASSIVE step up from Superstocker to WSB (ask Brendan Roberts and the many others that have tried and not made an impression).

I will be surprise if Ducati and Checa do anything next year that will give the SBK fans the wow factor when the pair race, i fail to see that this 1199 there rolling out for next year will be the all singing and dancing factory bike, that they claim it to be. I would like to see MV, Bimota and KTM in 2014 when the rules should hopefully suit these great brands. Great to see MV back in superbikes(BSB), i've too have read that the team will have factory support from MV.

the panigale will be as miserable a bike as its GP big brother..the bike design is fundamentally flawed, it doesnt provide the feedback the rider needs to be fast and the design will need years of developement to gather data on how to set the bike up..also, the motor will not be on par with the inlines and v4s..by shortening the stroke to get more rpm's in an effort to be better down the long straights they have lost the advantage of a twin which is good management of tires due to good mechanical grip and grunt down low..well the inlines and v4s all do that better now and will only get faster (i.e. kawasaki, bmw and aprillia)..my prediction for the panigale is 1 year in wsbk then bye bye panigale

one more thing...suzuki, yamaha and honda will be offering new bikes in a year or so and you better believe they will be ahead of the panigale as well from day one...bottom line you can no longer run a 90 degree vtwin in wsbk and be competitive especially with an underdeveloped chasis design that gives vague front end feedback to the rider...ducati should fire preziosi for the waste of money and time

Panigale....panigale : let's see what it has in it at the first race.
Nothing is really important as long everybody can watch great racing , nevermind who in WSBK. This season KAWASAKI or BMW had to win the world title but it didn't happened.
That's racing. We don't want to lose any manufacturers and perhaps having some more...
We all love WSBK. Good luck to DUCATI and all others.And to Giugliano who has still to learn but one day he will reach his goal when ?
