I will never forget my first visit to Assen, being late, climbing up the banking to smell and hear the 250 race going on. There was one all black and yellow chesterfield liveried acrobat who was so far ahead of the rest of the field that he was wheelying the thing out of every corner, waving to the crowd.

The last of the old school GP riders as in not being in a hurry progressing onto the 500 class. He was happy in 250 and dominated for four years against other 250 die hards like Harada, Capirossi, Waldmann, Perugini, Romboni and jacques.

What really made me a fan was his 500 debut,pole, fastest lap and race win on his first ever 500 NSR ride in Doohan era of utter domination. Unbelievable stuff!! Before him 250 legends Pons, Cadalora and Capirossi had their hands full adapting to the two-wheeled 500 power house. Biaggi was the first to make the adjustment to the big class without a learning curve.

I hadn't ever realised Biaggi had so many fans. Good for him.

I know I'll get some fire for this but I gotta ay it: The fact that he got 4 250 championships doesn't necessarily make him "the greatest 250 rider ever" and that's because most other really competitive riders moved on to the greater category after 1 or 2 championships, where the game gets upped.

I love you Max, you're a legend who gave his life
To make people happy I can not describe how much I enjoyed all the wins and 6 championships
My favorite rider i wish you lots of health and success in family life
Hope you read all the lovely comments that are written here
For me there will be no replacement for you in my heart
