WSBK » Checa: I didn’t think I’d be competitive!

Carlos Checa admits he thought his troubled build up to first Superpole of the season would scupper his chances of challenging for pole position at Phillip Island.

I guess Ben Spies was right when he Said "Whens the last time Ducati showed up with a Bad bike in WSBK" during a interview with Cycleworld.
My prediction
Checa wins race 1
Melandri wins race 2

Checa says he doesnt really know what happened in MGP with the monocoque bikes, but he says he didnt felt comfortable either with that desmosedici.

As a superbike, he says it works just fine, as he can brake hard and sustain speed during cornerering, without issues on the front of the bike. So, what should be the MGP bike s problem? Is it the engine design? The carbon brakes strenght?

I admit I expected a good run for the new Panigale, but not a record lap on their first superpole of the year. This just proves that the monocoque design is worth at least at WSBK level. Im happy for them.

re: "As a superbike, he says it works just fine."

yeah, NOW he says it works fine. before he was talkin' out his a$$. as i said, preziosi and bayliss are no muggs.

re: "So, what should be the MGP bike s problem?"

SURVEY SAYS...!!! (*ding*) chassis...!!! it was the number #1 answer (ex-pat richard dawson voice).

checa's experience was predominantly with the half-trellis. he only did 2 races in the c/f era as a fill in. stoner's the only one to have ridden all 3: trellis, c/f monocoque, and tested the rare ally monocoque. the title he at least WON on the trellis. gee audi, i wonder if there's anything to be learned from this...? (s1 strikes a pose like rodin's the thinker)

re: "MotoGP could learn a thing or two from WSBK."

thing or 3.

having commandeered production engines, our jealous uncle carmelo's already STOLEN a page from the superbike playbook. and yet, WE are supposed to believe WSBK is somehow inferior or 2nd rate. uhh, run that by me again...? standby one, let me peel this "gullible" sticker off my forehead.
