@ blah. Sykes set his fastest lap of the race on the last lap.. Not the fastest lap.

@ Nick636 Guintolli was only 1 second slower than the leaders on the last lap.. That's not completely backing it off to me.. But I agree he should have fought immediately for the place. i guess he decided he didn't need to because he assumed an unfair advantage was gained...

re: “The decision to allow Sykes to keep its position is a scandal”

re: "He did run up close to Marco and avoided a much bigger scandal"

exactly. where some say "scandal"...? s1 says, see entry for WORLD SUPERSPORT.

re: "that is why I hate the asphalt run-off areas. The gravel traps punish the rider/driver errors, but the asphalt didn't"

and that's why some LOVE asphalt run-off areas. they exist because at some point in history, a person of intelligence (wisdom of Methuselah this), made an argument that gravel travels often times punish rider/driver errors TOO SEVERLY.

I find it unbelievable that suddenly the armchair racers come out with stupid comments about the right and wrongs when they do not know the facts/rules.
Before the races all riders were briefed that on certain corners "including" the one in question, should it be necessary to take avoiding action to prevent a collision then the rider could run off the track and re-join, providing no advantage were taken and no position was gained which is exactly what Sykes did, to say Guintoli
I am not a particular "Sykes" fan but on track he is one of the most fair but hard riders I have ever seen in action at the sharp end

For whatever reason some text disappeared !

- - is exactly what Sykes did, after watching the incident over a few times to say Guintoli was impeded in any way is not at all correct.

Don't hate the player, hate the game...

He had just managed to put himself ahead of Guintoli, it was not some clear-case of being behind, then intentionally blasting through the run-off to gain a position. Either way, the ruling was made and that is the deal, love it or hate it. I personally think Sykes is plenty cautious when it comes to not trying to take other riders out... a bit more attitude would do him good when fighting for position! Maybe this incident will have him saying "to hell with it" and going in to the races ready to fight back more.

How funny that when Biaggi ran off track with 7 seconds in front they pretty much f****d him on that enitire race...same situation and they give him his position back....what a bunch of crock!!

A failed overtaking manoeuvre which results in running off track does not justify Sykes claiming that he was in 3rd position. He clearly took advantage of position and time. What's wrong with the officials and more important to me, what's wrong with Sykes? I thought he was bigger than that! I hope these 3 points don't make a big difference at the end of the season. A hollow victory for one or big disappointment for another.

more than one rider was penalised for running on at corners, this just proves that for some reason sykes is the apple of somebodys eye so much so they felt it nessesary to step in and protect him after all we cant have him losing a championship by one point again Maybe being a one lap wonder is so good for their ratings they feel a need to keep him happy at all costs.I can only hope that Guinters spends the rest of the season showing everyone his real talent
