Lost such a huge amount of respect for BMW following Donnington 2012 when Melandri bashed in to Haslam, I believe to ensure Haslam didn't get a win the same day as he did (the first for BMW).

Following this, BMW refused to criticise Marco and in fact tried to blame Rea who was behind the pair of them!

Leon Haslam went to BMW off the back of finishing runner up the previous year, at a time when the BM was a dog. He and his father put many testing hours in officially and at Silverstone where his father, Ron runs a race school.

Melandri arrived only after the bike was a potential winner and even then only after repeatedly losing rides in MotoGP.

BMW should've, at least privately, supported Leon and had a word with Marco. They didn't and internal relationahips soured, meaning only one could stay for the following season. BMW chose Melandri despite the prior work by Haslam.
