Carlos, you have been a fantastic competitor in multiple classes, and have continued to have time for your fans over the years. Enjoy your retirement, you have deserved it and have fans the world over. We will miss your smiling face and bubbly personality- sorry Phillip Island has been so unkind to you.

Bravo Carlos! You have much to be proud of and your dynamic performances and surprises will be missed. What an inspiration you are to riders both young and...our age. This fan is very grateful to you for having put yourself on the line again and again over the years to bring us such spectacular races. All the best to you sir!

What a shame! He and Biaggi were my favourite ones, 'the old foxes', then both of them retire in one year's time. And how unworthy this year was for Carlos. He had a nice career with Ducati in SBK, starting with a win in his first race as a privateer Althea man, too bad it ended with mid-pack results and injuries.

Racing will be the poorer without him but when all is said and done and being 41 years old- now is the time to go. He has achieved a lot and can take comfort from that.
