Homologation rules understand able but should be adapted to suit the size of the manufacture and the amount of bikes produced.
At least Bimota are producing bikes the FP1 was never sold yet was aloud to race.

WSB is not a prototype class - it is supposed to be about mainstream bikes that are widely available for sale.
It's true that the FP1 was allowed to race, but on the assurance that the bike was going to be produced subsequently at the required homologation numbers (but never was). Lessons should have been learnt from that.
If you let Bimota get away with this then how do you legitimately prevent any other factory from producing a very limited edition special and then claiming the right to run it?
The rules are there for a reason and if Bimota can't meet them then they shouldn't be there.

I was quite happy with the old rules but ZZr600 has a point. For the same reason the rules were adapted in the face of a challenging markets then likewise the rules should account for smaller manufacturers looking to race on sunday and sell on Monday. The market has changed and grids are we really think that blocking Bimota is the answer?

I agree with LLarry that they need to adhered to the rules but the rules need to reflect the current state of affairs and motorcycle manufacturers of all size need to have the opportunity to showcase their design and engineering abilities.

Besides if there is stringent controls on the tecnical rules does it really matter what the hell they produce...2 wheels, steel brakes, aluminum frame, restricted size engine, controlled electronics, fuel limits & type, combined weight for rider and bike, spec forks and the list goes on and on!!! What the hell limited proddy racer could any manufacturer come up with??? Probably nothing better than

Probably nothing better than an independent builder.... the only separation would be money for research and precious material parts!! which can be controlled as well!!

"Mainstream bikes" is a misnomer at any rate.... I thought about buying an EBR the other day (even the cheap one)....when I saw the price....let us say it still is and will remain a thought!!!! for that price it might as well be a prototype!! because Joe Snuffy and Average Guy will never ride, much less own one but here we are racing (US) $10,000 ZX-10Rs against $46,000 EBRs (RS model which is what they race)..... Yes I was able to get a deal on a brand new 2013 ZX-10R for $10,000 out the door!!! Might be less now with the 2014s in stock...

So I believe Bimota should meet some standard but that standard need to be realistic for the size and volume capabilities of the manufacturer not a blanket number!!

given their storied history and contributions to both motorcycling and WSBK as a whole, by the powers vested in me, as a grand gesture of altruism, i officially reset their homologation requirement to a mere 100 bikes. (room erupts with applause)

ok ok settle down people. now lets get to work. some of you have to leave immediately for Germany.

Joeski, EBR will be runnng the 1190RX in WSBK, which costs only 19k dollars. the 1190RS is it's limited production predecessor, hence the high price. nice thing about the RX though, is it's got more HP and a better torque curve but minus all the pricey hand-made bits.

you should reconsider!

If you can buy the same bike, regulations with standing, then why not?

WSBK would benefit greatly by introducing more brands. The thing is all the CRTs would be better off in WSBK than MotoGP where the income disparity is greater and the opportunity for more brands to podium in WSBK is greater.

WSBK just needs to start getting more interest, the racing in 2013 for WSBK was at least one class above GPs where GPs was just two guys, with one just kidding around for most of the year. WSBK had much better action, especially at Monza, and Laguna.

If you ask me, if Pirelli freeze the tires, and only worry about their wet tires going bananas, WSBK could get very interesting in the near future.

I have said in F1, if you want to have a grand spectacle, introduce a weight penalty and forget about rules that won't ever work. If you want to have a spectacle for bike racing then introduce a fuel penalty system.

while I find this hard to believe, I will say be it RX or RS...? neither one's going to be enough over the long term. not in this crowd.

they need to be going hammer and tong (same as Bimota) homologating a final version. tell erik, I graciously dub it the 1190RR and extend him the same 100 count. I trust this will be satisfactory...? :)
