Suzuki providing strong evidence that the biggest problem their package has suffered over the last 2 seasons was the massive budgets and container loads of engines of their competition could afford to throw at their efforts.

The rule changes (which I was very worried could have made things worse) seem to be heading things in the right direction.

I have been very critical of Dorna in the past and on their poor management and control of MotoGP, and was naturally sceptical of how they'd manage WSBK. Right now though I have to say I am a lot more optimistic - Dorna also seem finally to be trying to re-establish some control over the rampant MSMA in MotoGP.

Well done so far to Suzuki, Laverty & Lowes.

thats right ! i forgot ,the thing that really surprises me was that the level of superiority the gps have over the superbikes yet only ruffly 3 second difference! i thought with all the cut backs in this class it would be alot more ! we lost tv coverage here in Canada which i think is beyond stupidity,but hopefully i will find it on the web somewhere ! cheers and enjoy !

@Bvc43
U can purchase a online season pass from the wsbk website similar to motogp, I'm also from Canada and think it sucks that we need to pay to watch motorcycle racing... Dorna have strange ways of trying to grow there series.

Also remember that WSBK uses a qualifying tyre whereas GP does not. GP has a soft tyre but it is basically a racing soft whereas SBK has a one lap special soft rubber for quals.. so there is an additional 1 - 1.5 secs. per lap. Now 4 - 4.5 secs per lap X 22 - 25 laps that is 88-110 secs give or take a few after a race distance. Seems a massive difference to me.

@Joeski

Interesting to note that the fastest race lap last year by Marquez was a 1,28,108 and I think that was set on the lap that Marquez didn't pit and got the black flag for.

So theres two seconds in it at the Island but who knows the WSBK boys might chip into that a bit by tge end of race two.

48 seconds over race distanceif the 2 second gap is constant but the Pirellyis didn't go to crap after x laps and the bridgestones did. So final total race time might be fairly similar if the gp bikes had to pit.

Q: curious, why don't you feel you should come off the dime (err Loonie) for a niche interest that only YOU love...?

re: "Dorna have strange ways of trying to grow there series."

pay attention guys, this is s1 defending the interests of Dorna. btw, you may wanna take a picture of this moment...? it'll last longer. :)
