WSBK » Laguna Seca round officially confirmed

Laguna Seca will certainly host a round of the 2014 WSBK Championship after an agreement was reached with a title sponsor.

Was it subject to contract? I only remember Sepang and Phakisa were STC.

The calendar is a bit worrying now. Those aforementioned two aren't confirmed yet (and Sepang is scheduled in June), while we still don't know where will be the final round.

The final round is supposedly going to be Qatar and it'll be formally agreed during the MotoGP event, so should be announced in the next couple of weeks.

Apparently Dorna really wanted it to be in Asia to tap into a particular market (can speculate on where), with Qatar on standby if it fell through... I guess it's probably fallen through.

I sure hope they run both sbk races on Sunday. Felt a bit ripped off when I bought tickets for Sunday as (usual)and only got to see one race last year.

Many folks can't afford to spend the whole weekend at the races. Sunday has ALWAYS been race day! FFS!!

Pipboy: Well I'll be there for sure! The date slots into where the MotoGP race usually landed. Which I like better than Sept. Though I'm still pretty bitter about losing the GP race!!

MGP politics at play, and some financial manoevering too.

Yeah baby! Although I attended most of the MotoGP races at Laguna, I always felt the WSBK races at LS were more entertaining. Superpole, 2 races, access to pits and riders. As lame as the AMA currently is, they did confirm being there as well and there are still some really fast guys racing in the states.

Bring it on.
