Theoretically, Tom Sykes 'only' needs to follow Ginters round in the remaining 8 races to bag his consecutive WSBK title. Easier said than done. But all the same, he and the Aprilia factory could do without Marco finishing in front. So look out for a pit board with the word - Tornate or il Calo.... If circumstances require it.

Guintoli isn't a consistent winner to win the title
and that has always been his problem.
the only reason he is still at Aprilia is he had in the contract that if he finished in the top 3 he would get a second year.
Laverty finished 2nd and won 9 races to Guintoli 1
but because of Guintoli contract he was out of a job

shakennstirred: That's true, but Guintoli didn't crash several times like Laverty and in the end finished only 20 points behind him. Now look at this year's standings - where is Guintoli and where is Melandri?

Guinters maybe lacks the "killer" instinct but he does a very good job on the Aprilia.

"Eugene + Marco would be a good squad for next year, Eugene is a proven commodity on that bike, hopefully Aprilia are serious and Eugene only has to serve 1 year at Suzuki."

He's in talks for riding in Aprilias motogp team though I doubt they would want Melandri and Laverty on the same team. Team orders would mean sweet stuff all with that combo.

I wonder how Melandri would feel if Laverty did get the motogp ride and he got left behind in wsbk. Time will tell all anyway.

I really like Sylvain. He's a one smooth rider, and from what you see and read, he's also a heck of a nice guy.

But history shows he's a #2 rider. A fantastic #2, but a Colin Edwards nonetheless.

Eugene won't come back.

BTW I'm a huge Colin fan. WSBk Imola 2002 - one of the best.

Guinters is solid and consistent but not a race winner, team should be built around Marco who is the most talented rider and always goes hard for the win. Marco is the rider who can bring a championship to Aprilia as he did all the way back in 250. As Aprilia centred the team around Max and won in SBK, they should do the same around Marco. Get Guinters out of the way, set the team and bike up for Marco and bring in a young star on the rise for the 2nd seat to be mentored by Marco. After Marco wins the 2015 WSBK Championship, he can be rewarded with a return to MotoGP in the official Aprilia factory team in 2016 though would like to see him stay in SBK and win a few titles.

All this Melandri championship talk imo the guy isn't cut out to be champ at least as long as Sykes and Kawasaki are around imo Melandri is the third or fourth best rider in SBK and thats behind Sykes and Rea and fairly even with Laverty over a season on equal machinery each having strengths in different areas.

Sykes and Rea are the best SBK riders at the moment but Sykes is the best combo of man and machine his shenanigans with Baz cost him some brownie points with the fans but he is by far the best SBK rider and bike combo capable of becoming the best SBK rider in history.

Hardly think Sykes is in the same class as Foggy or Bayliss so the comment about becoming the best SBK rider in history is flakey.
The Sykes / Kawasaki package is the best combination around right now though & you can only race against what turns up on the grid.

There's no way Sykes can be mentioned in the same conversation as Foggy or Bayliss. Also don't forget Max beat Tom to the title twice!! And as far as pure talent on the grid goes, Marco is the man.
