WSBK » South African WSBK round cancelled


Issues in bringing the Phakisa Freeway circuit up to acceptable standards mean South Africa's WSBK round has been cancelled.

Hardly the first time this has happened at Phakisa.
As much as it's understandable to have southern hemisphere races, the circuit owners' should get these places up-to-spec BEFORE they are awarded a race, not afterwards.
Total amateurs.

No I'm not Grant Dilford....
The auction was last week. Toby venter the owner of Porsche SA bought it outright for R205million... There are rumours he had backing from Porsche Germany as they want to use it as a test circuit in our summer, but that's not confirmed, but if their WEC cars come here then it's safe to assume that... The main thing is that he said it will be kept as a race track and that it will be cleaned up and upgraded for the benefit of SA Motorsport...which is fantastic for us! Best news in a long time... He is a smart business man and I'm sure it will bring back international Motorsport to that great race track!

I can only hope you're right man. We need some international racing again. Kyalami is a really fun circuit for bikes. And if they upgrade it nicely there is no reason we shouldn't get rounds moving forward.
