Issues in bringing the Phakisa Freeway circuit up to acceptable standards mean South Africa's WSBK round has been cancelled.

Hardly the first time this has happened at Phakisa.
As much as it's understandable to have southern hemisphere races, the circuit owners' should get these places up-to-spec BEFORE they are awarded a race, not afterwards.
Total amateurs.

@ grantrd

I can only hope you're right man. We need some international racing again. Kyalami is a really fun circuit for bikes. And if they upgrade it nicely there is no reason we shouldn't get rounds moving forward.

Kyalami has a rubbish surface that needs a refurb. The pit facilities are also below par. Phakisa was the best bet but are run by a bunch of slow lazy bastards. Riding that track shows what a dogs breakfast it is. They can't keep a turn clean(how much does a blower cost??) let alone prep it for world event for which they were given about a year. Embarrassing

This is taking the pee quite frankly. As already mentioned, you shouldn't get given hosting rights if anything is out of place. Few too many cancelled events in WSB over the last few years, makes them look like amateurs.

When Dorna took over WSBK in Oct 2012. It was muted by many people that it would be the death knell for WSBK. Is the bell now slowly beginning to toll?
Get rid of the Moscow round - Easy excuse - Ukraine troubles - DO NOT REPLACE.
Get rid of SA round - At a Venue - Known from the start, that it would never come up to standard required. - IT WILL NOT BE REPLACED.

Series reduced this year. And Next Year ?????????
