WSBK » Qatar WSBK night race confirmed

Qatar will definitely host the final round of the 2014 World Superbike Championship... and it will be held under floodlights!

Personally i wouldn't like to see the title decided at a racetrack with nobody in the stands, even though it visually looks good on tv.

Hopefully it will be decided in Magny Cours where there will at least be a sizeable and appreciative crowd...

re: "New money 'buying' an event as a status symbol. And three spectators there to see it. Pointless."

when multiple millions of wealth (extracted from society at large by whatever mechanism, thus no longer in circulation) transfers DIRECT from the bank account of one individual...? only to then sit (nearly static) in the bank account of another individual...? it's never pointless...

wait, what...?

I hate night races with a passion. We have to show ourselves to be an environmentally responsible sport, so why waste so much money and power on huge lights which are used once a year? Hold the race in local daytime, and don't patronize European fans who are actually fully willing to get or stay up at night for a title decider, or will at least watch the rerun. The novelty of the 'spectacle' has worn off now it's got so common. So many of the new tracks built in countries with no motorsport heritage have been poorly-attended while in use, and white elephants afterwards.

JimmyTheRealOne: This is probably the blandest racing track in the world (well, together with Miller Motorsports Park)

The infield reminds me a bit (just) of Jennings (for anyone in the SE U.S. that has done a track day there)... I dunno it's not that bland. Not very flowing, that is for sure.

@ MartinJSUK

It's not about peoples' bed times mate. It's too hot to have a bike race during the day.

Nurburgring, Spa, Red Bull Ring, Kyalami, Brands Hatch, Catalunya, Monza... ALL BETTER OPTIONS.

Some of you are complaining but I think night races are amazing to watch. I wish there were more of them on the schedule. Something about night racing just gets the blood flowing a little bit more than a daytime race. I'd be curious to know if any of you complaining have raced yourselves before?
