There is definitely a difference between WSBK and Motogp in terms of drivers capabilities. Just look at Spies, so dominant in AMA Superbike and in WSBK, while now 3rd year on a factory ride (1st year satelite team, factory bike) and he has only few flashes (regarding podium finishes). He was rookie of the year but with the best bike on the grid.
Edwards was 2 time WSBK champion and those titles gave him Motogp ride (and later place alongside Valentino Rossi).
Randy is a fighter, lots of DNFs, but a fighter. :-))
And he was pretty good with that Motogp Kawasaki.
