re: weight penalties

Nobody I know straps 7kg onto their Ducati for a Sunday ride just to make everybody else feel better about their inferior bikes! The weight penalty just normalizes the bikes, so that it becomes more of a competition between the riders, and less of a competiton between the bikes. Frankly, I don't care who the better rider is -- I want to know who can make a better bike! I've seen the HP4 go head to head against the Panigale, and I've talked to owners of both, and it's not looking good for the Panigale. I may have to swap up to an HP4 from my 1098, instead of a new Duc, if BMW pwns WSB this year. I hope like hell this whole weight penalty thing gets jettisoned and WSB goes back to what it's supposed to be, which is a venue for the makers, and not a showcase for the riders.
