Japan out, Canada in for 2004.

The FIM has today announced the official 2004 World Superbike calendar, which shows that Japan has lost its round to a new 'to be confirmed' event in Canada.

Removal of the Sugo round, present on the provisional line-up announced at the end of July, comes as something of a shock given the importance of the Japanese manufactures.

While no explanation was given, it could justifiably be seen as some form of revenge after the refusal of Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki to back the 2004 rule changes and field factory teams.

Meanwhile, Canada's new entry at Mont Tremblant comes just a week before the US round at Laguna Seca and - with the Supersport fixtures still to be announced - it is unknown if a second North American race will now encourage the WSS stars to venue overseas.

The full 2004 calendar can be seen below.
