Neukirchner: I want to put pressure on.

Max Neukirchner wants to put pressure on Troy Bayliss in the latest round of the World Superbike Championship as he plans a final push to wrestle the title off his rival.

Victories at Monza and Misano have helped Neukirchner emerge as Bayliss' closest competitor with ten races remaining, but with a 79 point deficit to ponder, the German is aware he is running out of time to make a difference.

Nonetheless, after scoring a pair of top ten finishes at Brands Hatch last season, Neukirchner is confident he can take the fight to Bayliss this weekend and keep his title hopes realistically alive.

“Brands Hatch is a special track and it's great to see and hear the fans because that doesn't happen very often,” the Alstare Suzuki rider said. “It is in a great setting and it is a track that often favours the home riders, though I would like to change that this weekend!

“I want to put pressure on Bayliss and see if I can close the gap on him this weekend. He has a big points advantage but anything can happen in racing, so I will be doing my best to score as many points as possible and hopefully leave with a couple of podiums for sure.”
