The HANNspree Althea team have announced they will double their efforts in next year's World Superbike Championship, as well as receive greater support from Honda Europe.
The Althea team currently run a sole bike for former factory-backed rider Roberto Rolfo this season, but with the Italian languishing down in 20th in the standings, they have so far struggled for form.
Nonetheless, Althea have received a commitment from their sponsors for 2009, the result of which will see them upgrade to a pair of bikes, although this could come at the expense of their World Supersport programme.
Indeed, the team admits they are still undecided on their future in Supersports and it is a decision that will be crucial to British rider Tommy Hill, who was planning to stay with the team next year once he recovers fully from injury.
Set to receive considerable support from Honda Europe for 2009, Althea is targeting one experienced rider to help them forge forward, while the second seat will be filled by another rider from their portfolio. It is therefore plausible that Hill could be that rider make the step up to Superbikes in 2009 with the team.
Currently, Althea and Rolfo's best result this season has been a tenth place result at Phillip Island and Valencia.
