Jones to be honoured at Parkalgar circuit.

The memory of the late Craig Jones is set to live on at the new Parkalgar circuit in Portugal after it was confirmed a corner will be named after him and a memorial will be erected in his honour.

Jones rode for the Parkalgar Honda World Supersport team until his tragic death in competition at Brands Hatch last weekend.

As such, the team's title sponsor Parkalgar, which has also overseen the building of the new state of the art circuit in Portimao, Portugal, will pay tribute to Craig by naming one of the most demanding corners on the circuit after him.

Furthermore, a memorial will be erected for visitors to come and pay respects to the fallen rider. The unveiling will be carried out by Craig's family when the circuit plays host to the final round of the World Superbike and Supersport Championship.

“Parkalgar, the new motor circuit in Portugal that owns the Parkalgar Honda team that Craig raced for, has announced two long-lasting tributes to its rider. It will name the most technical and difficult corner on the track after Craig in recognition of his talent and skill.

“It will also be erecting a memorial to him at the circuit so that all visitors can pay their respects. The full unveiling will take place with Craig's family at the final round of World Superbikes at the circuit in November.”

Also, a tribute to Craig is being planned for the upcoming European round of the World Superbike and Supersport Championship at Donington Park next month. More details will be announced closer to the date.

Very nice thought by Parkalgar... naming part of a circuit is a very fitting tribute for a racer. This is just my opinion (so please don't take it personally) but not sure I agree with having a number of memorials at different places and it doesn't need to be big and bronze for people to remember Craig. Naming the corner after him is an understated and dignified (much like Craig's family) way of keeping his memory in the racing community.
