Sykes `excited` by second WSBK chance.

Tom Sykes is determined to 'continue where he left off' at Brands Hatch after receiving a late wild-card entry for the upcoming European round of the World Superbike Championship at Donington Park.

The Rizla Suzuki rider was originally intending to compete at just Brands Hatch, but after a superb performance that very nearly saw him score a podium in the first race of the weekend, he will take up the challenge again at the Leicestershire circuit.

Coming to Donington Park having scored a third British Superbike victory at Knockhill, while Sykes's entry still has to be confirmed by the FIM, he is excited about the chance to rejoin the world paddock.

“I'm very excited about this opportunity and looking forward to mixing it with the regulars in the World championship again,” said Sykes whose entry into the races at the Leicestershire circuit has to be rubber-stamped by the sport's governing body the FIM.

“I will be carrying on from where I left off at Brands Hatch and hopefully taking it to the next level. I want to be racing closer to the sharp-end of pack with more of the big names of the world championship behind me again.”

As well as the likes of Troy Bayliss, Nori Haga and Max Biaggi, Sykes will face stiff competition from some familiar faces after Leon Haslam, Cal Crutchlow and James Ellison also confirmed their attendance.

Not to mention that Sykes'bike is BSB spec, running standard con rods & with a 5 kilo weight disadvantage, so his run at Brands was all the more impressive.
