Jonathan Rea has revealed that he was so confident aboard the Ten Kate Honda World Supersport machine that he was able to watch some of the battles raging behind him on the big screens as he romped away to victory.
Scoring his third win of the season, significantly he is back in the title tussle after championship leader and team-mate Andrew Pitt failed to score following a fall.
Indeed, Rea's win was so emphatic that he was even able to concentrate on the tussle for second place from the 'comfort' of his own bike…
“For the first five laps, I could hear everyone battling behind me but then I was able to put the hammer down. Big credit to the team for giving me such a brilliant CBR600RR to ride.
"I managed to open enough of a lead to be able to watch the battle behind me on the big TV screens and it looked like a lot of fun! It's a fantastic result for me and the team.”
With the margin down to 11 points and two races remaining, Rea has form on his side having won three of the last four events. Nonetheless, he is under no illusions that it will be difficult to overhaul the experienced Aussie.
“The championship is still a possibility, and I relish the challenge, but we'll just take the last two races as they come and see what happens.”
