Jones honoured at Parkalgar.

Fallen World Supersport rider Craig Jones has been officially honoured at the new Parkalgar Autodromo Circuit with a corner named in his memory.

Jones, who rode for the Parkalgar Honda team, was tragically killed in a racing incident at the Brands Hatch World Supersport event three months ago.

His name will now grace turn nine of the new circuit, which this weekend held its inaugural event as part of the final World Superbike round of the season. Turn nine is described as one of the most technical on the circuit and is a fitting tribute to such a promising talent.

In addition, a five-tonne stone memorial statue has also been erected in his memory depicting him celebrating across a finish line. Family, friends and team-mates all joined to celebrate Craig's life at the entrance of the circuit, where the statue will be placed in the future.

“This is a wonderful and permanent memorial to Craig that will last forever and I'd like to thank everyone that has supported us through the last three months,” said his father Steve Jones. “Thank you to the team and Paulo for helping us through our difficult times.

“It is fitting and in the spirit of Craig that the team should go on and be successful in the future, that is what he would want. Craig's family will continue to be associated with the team and circuit as the years go by. ”

Poignantly Jones remains the team's best placed rider in the overall standings, finishing the season in seventh position.
