Tommy Hill admits he endured a 'hard day' as testing got underway for the new World Superbike season in Portugal.
Making his official WSBK debut with the Althea Honda team, Hill had the disadvantage of being one of the few riders yet to have experienced the Portimao circuit. Matters weren't helped during the morning session when rain descending on the Algarve venue.
Completing a number of laps through the day, Hill worked on several tyre solutions but revealed a problem at the rear of the Honda hampered his progress.
“This is a new circuit for me and it's not easy to work on a new bike and on a new track. It has been a hard day. I had some problem on the rear of the bike and we tested different tyres and a few different set up solutions.
“We are at the beginning of our work and tomorrow we'll continue working on the bike set up and electronics. With the help of my team I'm sure I'll be able to improve my best lap time”
Hill was 21st quickest out of 27 riders
