WSS: Ten Kate take charge.

Reigning World Supersport Champion Andrew Pitt moved to the top of the timesheets on the second day of testing in Portugal as the Portimao circuit began to reach optimum conditions.

Although damp weather in the morning ensured that the riders are still around a second adrift of what they were managing during the Portimao race weekend two months ago, the more representative conditions allowed Ten Kate Honda pair Pitt and Kenan Sofuoglu to take charge.

Having been beaten by former champion Sofuoglu in Kyalami, Pitt turned the tables on the Turk this time, albeit a mere five hundredths of a second up on his team-mate.

Cal Crutchlow assumed the role of pursuer in third place, just a further few hundredths back in third place, while Friday's surprise pace setter Joan Lascorz proved his pace on the Provec Kawasaki was no fluke as he remained well in touch in fourth.

With just a tenth covering the top four, Michele Pirro was a second adrift in fifth place, ahead of Honda pairing Mark Aitchison and Gianluca Vizziello. Gianluca Nannelli, Fabien Foret and Miguel Praia completed the top ten.

Eugene Laverty, meanwhile, was 13th quickest on the Parkalgar Honda, while Stiggy's Anthony West was 15th fastest.
