So the 3rd fastest guy sits in 13th? Behind a guy that's 12sec slower? Odd. I guess I don't understand it yet, but maybe this format is designed to make closer racing? I imagine some 1st corner pile-ups will only be uglier.

looks like times from each riders last session regardless of going faster at an earlier stage, says spies was knocked out so that will have been on time at that stage, odd system but it seams to work in F1. You need to be quick in every stage
