Joan Lascorz gave Kawasaki a boost ahead of final qualifying for the opening World Supersport round of the season by topping the second free practice session of the weekend.
The Spaniard qualified a provisional 13th yesterday, but will be confident of a substantial improvement when the final grid positions are decided later.
Lascorz was comfortably quickest too, the Provec Motocard.com rider moving to the front with around five minutes on the clock remaining to end the session four tenths up on Kenan Sofuoglu.
The Turk made his presence felt at the top of the timesheets with ten minutes remaining when he deposed long time pace setter Cal Crutchlow. They went on to fill second and third positions, while Garry McCoy in fourth ensures four manufacturers are represented at the front heading into qualifying.
Provisional pole position man Andrew Pitt was fifth, seven tenths off Lascorz, but ahead of Honda compatriots Eugene Laverty and Mark Aitchison.
Elsewhere, Michele Pirro made his first top ten appearance of the weekend on the Lorenzini by Leoni Yamaha in eighth, ahead of factory rider Fabien Foret in ninth. Matthieu Lagrive was tenth fastest, ahead of the second Kawasaki of Katsuaki Fujiwara and local favourite Anthony West.
