Regis Laconi continued his fine form ahead of the first World Superbike races of the season at Phillip Island by claiming the fastest time in morning warm-up.

The Frenchman, who starts eighth on the grid for the two 22-lap races, has been impressive throughout his first weekend on the DFX Ducati and he continued to shine with a best lap of 1min 32.770secs.

Pole sitter Ben Spies prepared himself for his first World Superbike event by going second quickest, a tenth off Laconi, while Shane Byrne made his first appearance towards the head of the timesheets in third.

Suzuki were also back on the pace in fourth and sixth, Max Neukirchner leading Yukio Kagayama, the pair being split by Ducati's Michel Fabrizio.

Elsewhere, privateer Honda pair Roberto Rolfo and Tommy Hill popped up into the top ten in seventh and tenth respectively, with Noriyuki Haga and Carlos Checa between them in eighth and ninth.

Tom Sykes, Jonathan Rea and Leon Haslam had to make do with 11th, 12th and 13th positions respectively.
