Roberto Rolfo upped his pace during day two of the Qatar World Superbike weekend, resulting in ninth on the grid for Saturday's races, but Stiggy Honda team-mate Leon Haslam will line-up just 16th after a series of technical troubles.

"I am happy with my Superpole qualifying and my grid position for tomorrow's race," smiled Rolfo, who had been fourth in Q1 and only narrowly missed out on advancing to Q3. "I had a really good feeling with my bike today. We made some great progress throughout the day and worked on the race simulation, we still have to improve as it still proves difficult to keep the pace consistent. The bike and the team are still improving and I'm happy with the direction were heading. The bike has great potential, we just have to understand how to use it."

Meanwhile Haslam, a podium finisher at the Phillip Island season opener, has battled technical troubles during both days and didn't get the chance to complete a single lap on a qualifying tyre - pushing him out of Q1.

"We seem to be plagued by technical issues and have only done around 15 flying laps in total over the whole weekend," said the Briton. "Despite the issues we set out on a race tyre and made a gamble to save the qualifiers for the ending but missed out on that. But that's the way it goes in the new Superpole qualifying. Tomorrow is a different story, there are a few areas we still need to improve, but I am looking forward to tomorrow's race."
