Leon Haslam is hoping that new parts for his Stiggy Racing Honda can help put him back in podium contention during this weekend's third round at Valencia, Spain.
Haslam, who has taken one podium from the first four races, currently sits fifth in the 2009 WSBK standings - just four points from third placed Max Neukirchner - and got the opportunity to test updates for his CBR1000RR alongside new team-mate John Hopkins at Almeria earlier this week.
"The last time I raced in Valencia in WSBK I qualified on the front row and was challenging for a podium. I'm looking forward to getting out there on the Honda now,” he said of the upcoming event.
“We have tested some new parts for the bike in our one-day test in Almeria and have been able to test a wet set-up for the first time this year. All in all I am really happy with the progress we made so far and feel confident for the next race.
“If I can have some good practice time on the track and qualify well, we can definitely set some good results in Valencia,” Haslam confirmed.
"I am confidently looking forward to the next race in Valencia,” added team manager Johan Stigefelt. “We have been able to spend some valuable time on-track and test some new parts in Almeria with both John and Leon. It all worked out well and is another important step forward in the development of our Stiggy Racing Honda CBR1000RR.”
