Latest WSBK Championship standings

Having watched Ben Spies cruise to double victory in Qatar, Noriyuki Haga duly responded in the perfect way in Valencia with a pair of dominant wins for himself.

Together with Spies taking a tumble in race one, Haga, who now has three wins and three second place finishes under his belt, has suddenly opened up a 40 point lead over his arch-rival.

Now on 135 points, it is worth mentioning that last year's champion, Troy Bayliss, finished the first three rounds on 128 points…

Suzuki's Max Neukirchner is clinging on in third place, although Michel Fabrizio was a big winner for Ducati Xerox, his two podiums launching him from 11th to fourth in the standings.

Privateers Leon Haslam and Regis Laconi are also doing fine jobs on their respective Stiggy Honda and DFX Ducati machines in fifth and sixth positions overall, ahead of the best factory Aprilia, Honda, BMW and Kawasaki entries. Further back, debutant John Hopkins and Makoto Tamada scored their first points of the season in Spain.

In the manufacturer standings, Ducati have stretched their lead over Yamaha from four to 25 points, ahead of Honda, Suzuki, Aprilia, BMW and Kawasaki.
