WSS: Crutchlow makes it three straight poles

Cal Crutchlow has taken a dominant pole position for the latest round of the World Supersport Championship at Assen, the British rider going half a second quicker than his closest rival.

His third consecutive pole position in just four attempts, the much anticipated tussle between Crutchlow and practice sparring partner Joan Lascorz only materialised at the beginning of the session before the BSB race winner pulled out a two tenth advantage 20 minutes in.

Two tenths became five tenths in the closing stages as Crutchlow went even quicker to put the prize well out of reach for Lascorz, who was otherwise second on the Provec Kawasaki,

They will be joined on the front row by Honda pairing Kenan Sofuoglu and Eugene Laverty, who in turn had no answer to Crutchlow's front running pace, six and seven tenths adrift respectively.

Crutchlow's Yamaha team-mate Fabien Foret will start fifth, ahead of sixth place Garry McCoy, who put in an improved effort with the BE1 Triumph, while Michele Pirro continued his decent form so far this weekend to score a second row start too.

Despite both suffering falls aboard their Stiggy and Veidec Hondas during the session, Anthony West and Robbin Harms will start eighth and ninth, ahead of reigning champion Andrew Pitt, who is seemingly continuing to struggle aboard the new specification Ten Kate Honda CBR600RR.

Fantastic to see Cal has adapted so well to the new bike and series. Same goes for Eugene Laverty. I'll be cheering on both guys tomorrow morning, just wish I was there again! Assen is a fabulous place to spectate from! :)
