Mixed fortunes for Aprilia, BMW in Q1

Aprilia and BMW have been reduced to a single bike for the remainder of Superpole at Assen after Shinya Nakano and Ruben Xaus were eliminated from Q1.

The pair find themselves at the bottom end of the timesheets after being unable to get themselves into a crucial top sixteen position, Nakano and Xaus' final efforts only good enough for 19th and 20th respectively.

By contrast, Xaus' team-mate Troy Corser emerged from Q1 with the second best time, while Nakano's team-mate Max Biaggi was up in third position too.

Joining them in the drop-zone was Tommy Hill and Brendan Roberts, who in turn with start 17th and 18th.

Ahead of Corser and Biaggi, Max Neukirchner set an outstanding pace at the head of the field, the German's single lap of 1min 37.946 smashing the lap record in the process. Shane Byrne was fourth quickest with Ryuichi Kiyonari fifth.
