Kagayama hoping for more time on bike

Yukio Kagayama says he needs more testing time on the Suzuki Alstare Brux GSX-R1000 in order for him to pose a competitive threat at every World Superbike Championship round.

The K9 specification machine made its debut in 2009, but while it has shown flashes of speed in the hands of both Kagayama and team-mate Max Neukirchner, each has been stymied by inconsistencies.

Indeed, while Kagayama was pleased with a pair of eighth place finishes at Kyalami, he insists he could be fighting for podiums if he understood the bike entirely.

“This weekend, I had trouble with the bumps at this race track and we were not able to find a good solution to make the bike easier to ride over these bumps. We tried many things, but it is not so easy to understand the character of this bike and I would like more testing time.

“This bike is all new this year and so we have had to start to work with it and try and understand it. If we could understand the bike completely, we could improve it quickly and that would mean that I could challenge for the podium in every race. I am hoping that Miller will be good for us and I am looking forward to fighting for the top spots again.”

Ten K, BMW, Suzuki blah blah, and in F1 Ferarri, Mclaren, i still dont see how teams allow themselves to turn-up at the beginning of a new season totally unprepared. In WSB, ten k with j.rea on board should be the third guy in the s'peas haga fight

Kagayama hasnt shaped in the last few years... the fact i saw him smoking outside the back of the pits cant help his fitness... think this guy needs to shape up or move on and let a dedicated rider take the suzuki back to the front of the field! Imagine, Spies coulda been on this bike!
