Noriyuki Haga is confident he can challenge for victory in the latest round of the World Superbike Championship at Miller Motorsports Park, despite Ben Spies' expected home advantage.

A familiar circuit for the Yamaha 'rookie' having competed in the AMA Superbike series, Haga himself has only raced there once before when WSBK visited the circuit for the first time last season.

On that occasion, an accident prior to the races left Haga with a broken collarbone, although he did soldier on to a sixth place finish come race day.

Nonetheless, while Haga admits he has painful memories of the Utah circuit, the Ducati Xerox rider is expecting to be a race win contender this time around.

"I didn't have a good time at Miller last year, and it was very painful to ride with a broken collarbone but I needed to fight for more points so I went ahead with the races.

"I hope to have a better time of it there this year and I'm looking forward to riding my 1198 at Salt Lake. Although Ben will surely be the favourite to win at his home track, I intend to be up there fighting with him for the victory."
