Cal Crutchlow has identified Eugene Laverty as his biggest threat for the World Supersport title as he prepares for the seventh round of the season at Miller Motorsports Park.
The Yamaha rider has been in superb form throughout 2009, belying his rookie status to have scored five podiums in six races, including two race wins.
However, having watched Laverty romp to victory last time out at Kyalami, Crutchlow admits he has his eyes fixed firmly on the Parkalgar Honda rider when action gets underway in the United States.
“I'm really excited about racing at the Miller track," he said. "South Africa was a really tough race, I tried as hard as I could but just couldn't close the gap on Eugene once I got clear of the pack.
“He's now the biggest threat for the championship at this time so I really want to go out there and work hard with the Yamaha team this weekend and hopefully win the race. We've still got some things to work out on the bike but we're getting there."
