WSBK Championship standings - Miller

Ben Spies made his first big indentation on Noriyuki Haga's championship lead with his double victory at Miller Motorsports Park, the American taking a 35 point chunk out of his rival's advantage.

Although it still leaves him playing catch up with 53 points to claw back, Spies' perfect weekend – coupled to Haga's rather forgettable one – means the title is far from a foregone conclusion as the season tips over the half way point.

While he loses his place to Spies in the standings, two podiums for Michel Fabrizio means he is being dragged along too, just eleven points behing in third place.

Further back, big changes see Jonathan Rea resume Ten Kate's role as Honda's top representative in WSBK following a fifth and third place finish, the Northern Irishman capitalising on Leon Haslam's last lap tumble to jump up to fourth overall. Max Biaggi follows him through to fifth on the Aprilia, leaving Haslam sixth, but just eleven points off Rea.

A good weekend overall for the Ten Kate team, Ryuichi Kiyonari and Carlos Checa are up to eighth and ninth respectively, while Jakub Smrz moves into the top ten on the Guandalini Ducati too.

Three more point scorers swell the ranks this weekend, with Jamie Hacking, Lorenzo Lanzi and Jake Zemke all scoring at Miller, and while there is no change in the manufacturer standings, Aprilia pulls further away from Suzuki, while Kawasaki made good in-roads on sixth place BMW.
