Matthieu Lagrive pronounced himself satisfied with his maiden World Superbike showing during provisional qualifying at Misano, despite missing out on an early Superpole position.
After eight years of World Supersport competition, Lagrive graduates to Superbikes for the first time as a replacement for Tommy Hill at Althea Honda at Misano.
However, while he would emerge just outside the top twenty in 22nd position, the Frenchman was happy with his performance, adding that he even prefers riding a Superbike compared to his Supersport machine.
“I'm pretty happy with my test today. I'm still trying to understand my new bike because I have already ridden a CBR 1000 RR but it was an Endurance specification bike and this one is completely different.
“I like my new bike and I can say that I prefer to race in Superbike. I'm not so far from the top riders also considering that this is my first time on a Superbike and that I'm still struggling to use the traction control that's something completely new for me.
“My result today is thanks to a really big effort from the team who have worked so hard to make the bike comfortable for me. With this heat it's hard to go extremely fast. I'd like to improve even further tomorrow and I'll see what I can do.”
