Shane Byrne is hoping changeable weather conditions don't scupper his season's best qualifying performance of fifth place ahead of the eighth World Superbike round of the year at Misano.
Byrne, who reached the Superpole shootout for the first time at Miller Motorsports Park, repeated the feat at Misano after a superb last gasp effort during Q2 lifted him into position.
Once there, the reigning British Superbike Champion proceeded to split the factory Ducati Xerox machines to just miss out on a front row slot.
Lauding the progress of his Sterilgarda Ducati team – winners at Misano last season -, Byrne is hoping the weather stays constant to help him capitalise on his position.
"I'm very happy with the work we've done in the last two days. We managed to be fast both with race set-up and in the Superpole. I also scored my best practice result and this gives me confidence for tomorrow's races.
“I just hope the weather will not change so quickly as it did today. In fact, when I got on the track, the surface was still moist but later it did dry out. Tomorrow's warm up session is very important also as it should help us choose the right tyres and this could be decisive because the weather has changed a lot since yesterday.”
