It is almost a case of 'as you were' following this weekend's two races at Misano, with Ben Spies narrowing the gap to Noriyuki Haga in the overall standings by a mere five points.

A win and a ninth place finish for Spies, coupled to a fifth and a third for Haga meant that it was in fact Michel Fabrizio that came away from the San Marino round of the series with the biggest points haul of any rider.

As such, he is becoming increasingly considered an outside title threat along with Spies, not least because he is just seven points adrift of the American in the standings.

Another big winner from the weekend included Jonathan Rea, who claimed his maiden WSBK victory, to move clear in the battle for fourth, his cause being aided by quiet rounds for Max Biaggi and Leon Haslam.

Tom Sykes has also moved back into contention after two solid top ten finishes, while Jakub Smrz's pole position and two fourth place finishes lift him up a position to ninth, just a point adrift of Carlos Checa.

Meanwhile, Shane Byrne's podium moves him up to 12th position, while special mention should go to Matthieu Lagrive who, on his WSBK debut, finished tenth to score six points - as many as his predecessor Tommy Hill had managed up to that point.

In addition, Alessandro Polita also scored a single point on his return for Celani Suzuki to bring the total number of scorers this season to 34.
