WSS: Crutchlow fastest after fall

Cal Crutchlow shrugged off a tumble just minutes into the session to emerge comfortably quickest from first free practice at Donington Park.

Crutchlow fell on his first lap out on circuit, hurting his hand and his ankle, but was soon back on track and setting a good pace, the World Supersport championship leader emerging three tenths up on nearest rival Joan Lascorz.

With the session effectively curtailed ten minutes from the end due to a deterioration in the conditions, Crutchlow's key title challenger Eugene Laverty started confidently in third position, with Fabien Foret and Kenan Sofuoglu completed the top five.

Katsuaki Fujiwara continued his return to prominence in sixth, ahead of Australian trio Mark Aitchison, Garry McCoy and Anthony West, while the George White-backed Barry Veneman was a strong tenth aboard his Honda.
