John Hopkins is confident he will see the latest round of the World Superbike Championship through after making a promising start to his weekend at Donington Park.

Following a false start on his return at Misano when he chose to sit out the races, Hopkins will attempt to compete at Donington Park instead, his first race outing since his Stiggy Honda debut back at Valencia.

Although the American admits he is still feeling the after-effects of his injured hip, he insists he is beginning to get back to full strength now.

"I am a little bit sore, but I am happy to be back and riding a motorcycle again," he told Radio. "Racing is my life, so being I hated being off the bike.

"I am going out there to try and see how the hip is, but I am having a little bit of trouble in some of the corners. Other than that it feels good., the bike is working really well and me and Leon are doing good times, so we have to keep progressing from here and working hard."

Qualifying a provisional 14th position on the grid, Hopkins found his seventh position in free practice a bigger boost to his confidence.

"We had a really good confidence boost. I really love Donington Park, it is one of my favourites. The bike works really well here, but while we'd like to be happy with where we are right now, we always want more!"
