Spies wins as Biaggi returns to podium

Ben Spies maintained his impressive campaign in the World Superbike Championship with a victory in the opening race of the weekend at Donington Park.

Spies' ninth win of the year came despite pressure throughout from Max Biaggi, who suffered a scare on the final lap when he Aprilia slowed suddenly before bursting back into life – allowing Biagi to take second ahead of points leader Nori Haga.
