WSS: Crutchlow maintains dominance

Cal Crutchlow continued to stamp his mark on World Supersport proceedings during testing at Imola after emerging with the quickest time at the end of day one by more than seven tenths.

Crutchlow was the quickest rider following the morning session, but lowered his lap time further to come away with a best of 1min 52.990secs.

Making him the only rider to slip below 1min 53secs, Crutchlow was a mammoth seven tenths quicker than Kenan Sofuoglu, the Turk remaining second quickest despite failing to improve on his lap time.

Eugene Laverty progressed to the third fastest time, moving him ahead of Fabien Foret and Mark Aitchison, but was a second slower than title rival Crutchlow.

Miguel Praia was an impressive sixth quickest on the second of the Parkalgar Honda machines, ahead of Andrew Pitt, Garry McCoy, Danilo Dell'Omo and Anthony West.

British riders Michael Laverty and Sam Lowes ended the day 11th and 15th fastest respectively.
