Sheridan Morais will make his World Supersport Championship race debut at Brno after been called upon as the replacement for the injured Doni Tata Pradita at Yamaha YZF.
Morais made headlines earlier this year with a star turn on his World Superbike Championship debut at Kyalami, the South African finishing just outside the top ten and out pacing regular Kawasaki rider Broc Parkes.
Prior to that, Morais raced on the world championship stage as part of the FIM Superstock 1000 series for three seasons, managing a best finish of third in 2008 as part of the Pedercini Kawasaki squad.
Having spent his 2009 season competing in the South African Superbike Championship, 24-year-old Morais will now get a chance to compete in the Supersport category in place of Pradita, who is still recovering from injuries sustained in a crash at Misano.
“We are very happy to have the possibility to enter Sheridan Morais for the Brno race,” said team manager Martial Garcia. “It's a great opportunity for our team. We hope that Doni Tata Pradita will recover quickly and we shall be glad to welcome him back at the Nürburgring.”
In the meantime, Morais will be sampling the BE1 Racing Triumph Daytona 675 at this week's Imola test.
