Fabrizio confident despite missing pole

Michel Fabrizio enjoyed a positive start to latest round of the World Superbike Championship after just missing out on a provisional pole position at Brno.

The Italian, searching for a second win of the season to help him in his quest to close down Ben Spies and Noriyuki Haga in the standings, was in contention throughout practice before leading the way in provisional qualifying for almost the session's entirety.

However, despite being edged out by countryman Max Biaggi in the closing stages, Fabrizio is feeling confident about the weekend ahead.

“I've made a good start. Max just beat me to the fastest time in the last minute but we expected him to be going well having testing here recently.

“I'm feeling fairly confident with the set-up of the bike and the tyres for Sunday will be the same that we used here last year I think so we're sorted there. It should be a good race day as we've seen a variety of riders going strong in today's two sessions; the more, the merrier I say!”
